AGM – 7.30 Wednesday 6th March

Shareholders are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Community Shop. This will take place in the function room of the Sir William Hotel at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 6th March.

Shareholder will be asked to vote on the audited accounts and also the membership of the committee. It will also be an opportunity to catch with and discuss what is happening at the shop. There is a new management team, Kaori and Fiona, taking over from Peter, after his very successful period as manager. This year marks 10 years since the shop moved into the old vestry at St Helen’s church. Last year was a record one for sales and profits. Looking forward, the shop looks to have a sound future. There are also developments in the joint project with the church, which should start work in the Spring after delays caused by bats. When the church is re-roofed, solar panels and batteries will be installed which will enable the shop and the church to be largely powered by their own zero carbon energy.

The Grindleford Goat was originally set up to provide funding for the establishment of the shop. Now that the shop is paying its way as a successful business, it has been set up as a separate charity to support wider village activities.

Non shareholders are also welcome at the meeting and there will be an opportunity to buy shares if they wish to vote.
